I had Jonah's recommended to me during my first week in Tallahassee and it was the first place I ever bookmarked on Yelp. It just took me forever to follow through and I definitely was not disappointed! To put it simply, Jonah's has the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. I've been working my way through the Southern cuisine since I moved here 3 years ago and, even after a trying out places all over the South, Jonah's still holds up. The Cajun style seasoning they add only enhances the original.
Excellent food always! Everything is top quality and tastes terrific. Great experience and service also. I have been here dozens of times and have never been dissatisfied.
Food is awesome, fish is very fresh and cooked perfect. If you have not been here start off with the shrimp & grits.. it's off the charts!! Service was great also. Would highly recommend you give this place a try...
Jonah's is a locally owned restaurant that boasts some of the best seafood in the area. One of their signature dishes is shrimp and grits, a local favorite. The green-fried tomatoes are good and their crab cakes are loaded with sweet crab meat. There is an area of shaded outdoor seating and because of it's popularity, you may have to wait for a table so get there early!
This was our first time at Jonah's and we loved it. We were visiting from Albany, Ga and even though there was a 20-30 minute wait, we burned the time walking around downtown, which is neat too. We were seated outside and the view was great, but the flies found us and that was the only unpleasant aspect. Our server was wonderful and sweet, and she brought us some candles to help keep the flies away while we ate. It worked like a charm and we resumed our meal. We ate fried green tomatoes, the fried catfish plate, and the shrimp and grits plate. They were all delicious. The shrimp and grits are what they are best at and it shows. The large portion is plenty for one person with some left over to take home. We will definitely visit again.
